We are looking for an experienced human resources professional who is passionate about engaging, managing, and nurturing people across different teams and functional areas. This role is new to the organisation and will be pivotal for our growth. This is a strategic role that will help us to shape and implement a new HR approach (strategy, policy, and procedures) that aligns with the Centre’s overall strategy, culture and values.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Centre’s leadership team and be our go-to person for all staff-related queries and challenges. They will lead and manage HR activities end-to-end including job design, recruitment, performance and talent management, training & development and staff wellbeing.

Role and responsibilities

Strategy and planning
  • Develop and implement a new HR strategy which aligns with the Centre’s overall strategy, culture and values
  • Develop and implement planning to meet staff requirements for existing/ new programmes (on time, with full competence, considering both national and international contexts)
  • Devise and implement metrics as and when needed
Recruitment process, reward and recognition
  • Oversee the full-cycle recruitment process, including activities:
    • Actively network and employ innovative, creative recruiting methods to hire the best talent in line with the Centre’s Diversity & Inclusion Policy
    • Review and approve job position requests, job descriptions and make recommendations
    • Coordinate and manage recruitment posting on media platforms as appropriate
    • Coordinate interviews and provide interview outcome summaries
    • Facilitate and coordinate selection processes and procedures (e.g., salary and contract negotiations)
    • Manage onboarding of new staff (induction programme)
    • Develop and maintain system tracking of the recruitment process
  • Review and recommend reward and recognition initiatives that align with the Centre’s strategy, culture and values
  • Create and manage employee termination process (termination letters, handing-over & taking-over procedures). Conduct exit interviews, collate and share feedback on relevant learnings
Performance and talent management
  • Design and implement a performance management system in close consultation with senior leadership team and programme leads
  • Shape relevant best practice approaches for professional development that help to build capacity and capability within teams and new strategies to retain talent
  • Manage the performance management process including creating a plan to oversee annual reviews, develop training and development programmes, working one-on one with managers and staff as required
  • Scope, implement and review a new internship programme
Policy development and compliance
  • Review existing policies, manage update and development process as required
  • Develop and implement new policies on issues such as working conditions, performance management, equal opportunities, disciplinary procedures and absence management. Advise and support line managers in how to implement policies and procedures
  • Ensure legal compliance with organisational policies and relevant employment laws across all aspects of human resource management
Team development / welfare
  • Design and implement new approaches for team engagement and motivation (e.g., Away Days, Centre-wide meetings etc.)
  • Lead on team welfare and wellbeing initiatives

Requirements and skills

  • Relevant post-graduate qualification (business management / administration, qualification in HR management)
  • 5+ years of relevant practical experience handling HR related duties in similar organisations, including recruitment and reward processes, compensation practices, employee engagement, learning & development processes, performance management, diversity, and employment laws
  • Proven ability to effectively coach staff and management through complex and difficult issues
  • Strong collaborator with effective interpersonal and analytical skills who is able to work across programmes, field teams and organisational departments as required
  • Experience of working in a dynamic and changing workplace environment
