About the Role: We are looking for a Peer Mentor for Project Outlive.

Outlive is a suicide prevention program which addresses youth suicides in India by engaging with young people aged 18-25.

As part of the program, Outlive trains and mentors a network of youth volunteers as peer supporters to provide chat-based emotional support on chat.outlive.in to young people experiencing distress or having thoughts of ending their life.

To support the implementation of this project, we are seeking a full-time Peer Mentor.

Qualifications & Skills

ESSENTIAL

• Master’s degree in public health, psychology, social work, or allied disciplines

• Relevant experience in: peer support, working with suicide prevention helplines or support services, counselling or psychosocial support

• Relevant experience in capacity building of young people

• Excellent communication, interpersonal and team management skills

• Fluency in Kannada is essential

• Can work independently and in a team

Responsibilities

• Support with outreach, recruitment, selection, and onboarding of youth volunteers as Outlive peer supporters on Outlive Chat.

• Co-facilitate online training workshops for Outlive peer supporters

• Provide chat-based emotional support to youth in distress on Outlive Chat.

• Mentor, supervise and coordinate with Outlive peer supporters

• Prepare detailed documentation for all activities as per project protocols

• Cover latenight shifts (9pm-12 midnight) weekly as part of Outlive’s expanded chat support.
