We are looking for a Design Associate (Visual Communications) to join our Centre-wide communications team. This role will collaborate closely with the Visual Communications Designer to produce impactful visual materials for CMHLP’s projects, courses and initiatives.

Role and responsibilities

  • Assist in creating visually engaging digital and print materials including presentations, reports, infographics, brochures and social media creatives
  • Support in the layout and formatting of documents, adhering to brand guidelines, and ensuring visual consistency
  • Work in close collaboration with the communications team, project teams and other stakeholders to understand their requirements and deliver design solutions
  • Contribute ideas and innovative approaches to visual communication strategies
  • Ensure all outputs are accurate and of high quality
  • Good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills to effectively collaborate with all stakeholders

Qualifications, experience and skills

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications or any related field OR a strong portfolio showcasing design skills, including examples of both digital and print media
  • Proven experience of 2-5 years in a visual design role
  • Proficiency in typography, visual hierarchy, colour theory, layout design, and composition
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop)
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively and develop original concepts
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure high-quality final outputs

Desirable

  • Past experience in the mental health, development or nonprofit sector
  • An understanding of visual design history, design languages and their applications in various disciplines
  • Familiarity with animation and video production software like Adobe After Effects, Premiere, etc.
  • Attention to detail with proofreading skills to ensure high quality final outputs
