As Atmiyata’s Project Manager, Shailesh was the crucial bridge between our field sites in Mehsana and the Centre’s office in Pune. He completed his Master’s in Social Work from Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University and in 2017 joined the Centre. Unfortunately, in May 2020, we lost Shailesh to COVID-19. From soaking in the training and practice, to training volunteers in the field, despite all barriers, he had won over the hearts of the communities he worked with.

This loss is a loss to the entire community where we work. Given our first experience of working at scale, we learned immensely through his hard work, reflection, insights and problem-solving skills. He often spoke of how Atmiyata changed his own life and how committed he was to ensure its expansion. We will continue to work towards our common goal.
