The Keshav Desiraju India Mental Health Observatory (IMHO) is an initiative to facilitate law and policy reform in mental health and suicide prevention. We promote evidence-based policy and bridge systemic gaps in mental health by advancing policy research and innovation, providing technical support to governments, and through an open-access repository of data and information on mental health laws, policies & services.

We are looking for a Research Associate for the Keshav Desiraju IMHO.

Qualifications & skills

Essential 

  • Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Law, Public Health, Public Policy or allied disciplines
  • At least 2 years’ work experience in the fields of mental health, public health, law and policy reform, social justice, and other allied fields
  • Strong research skills in both qualitative and quantitative techniques
  • Proficiency in written English – strong academic and policy writing

Desirable

  • Prior experience in communication, advocacy, stakeholder engagement and network building
  • Proficiency in Hindi (verbal and written)

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research by collecting, collating, and analysing existing data, metrics and information on mental health systems, law, and policy
  • Draft and disseminate research outputs and publications (annual reports, briefs, newsletters, white papers, blogs etc.)
  • Develop and maintain the IMHO website and data platforms
  • Develop linkages and coordinate with civil society organisations, policymakers and other stakeholders as part of the IMHO’s institutional mechanism for collaborative research
  • Organise and facilitate consultations and dissemination events at the international, national, state and local level
