Outlive Peer Mentor

We are looking for a Peer Mentor for Outlive’s peer support programme. This is a paid full-time position.

Outlive’s peer support programme aims to improve young people’s access to peer support for suicide prevention. As part of the programme, Outlive trains and mentors a network of youth
volunteers across Delhi, Mumbai, and Pune as peer supporters to provide chat-based emotional support to young people experiencing distress or having thoughts of ending their life.

Role and responsibilities

  • Support with outreach, recruitment, selection, and onboarding of youth volunteers as Outlive peer supporters
  • Co-facilitate online training workshops for Outlive peer supporters
  • Provide chat-based emotional support to youth in distress on Outlive’s peer support platform
  • Mentor, supervise and coordinate with Outlive peer supporters
  • Prepare detailed documentation for all activities as per project protocols

Qualifications and skills

Essential 
  • Master’s degree in public health, psychology, social work, or allied disciplines
  • Relevant experience in peer support, working with suicide prevention helplines or support services, counselling or psychosocial support
  • Relevant experience in capacity building of young people
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and team management skills
  • Can communicate effectively in English, Hindi (verbal)
  • Can work independently and in a team
Desirable
  • Can communicate effectively in Marathi (written and verbal)
