Consultant Translator

Centre for Mental Health Law & Policy is seeking a Consultant Translator to support project Outlive.
Location: Remote
Roles & responsibilities
- Translate Outlive Chat’s peer support web-app, website, support and training resources from English to Kannada language
- Ensure translated content retains original meaning
- Submit translated materials as per shared formats within agreed timelines
- Coordinate with Outlive team and Kannada language speakers for back-translation or validation of work
Qualifications & skills
ESSENTIAL
- Verbal and written proficiency in Kannada and English
- Ability to translate content in a culturally sensitive and youth-friendly manner
- Ability to work remotely with good time management skills
- Attention to detail with ability to proofread, edit, and format translated content with attention to grammar and structure
- Basic computer skills including proficiency in MS word
DESIRABLE
- Prior experience in translation and transcription from English to Kannada
- Graduate/Postgraduate degree, preferably in Social Work, Psychology or a related field
- Prior experience working with young people
- Familiarity with suicide prevention or peer support frameworks
