Communication Associate

Purpose of the Role
To support centre-wide communications by managing social media and digital content, coordinating cross-functional inputs, developing written outputs for newsletters, blogs, and articles, and ensuring consistent, timely, and quality delivery across channels in line with organizational communication goals.
Core Responsibilities
1. Social Media Management & Execution
- Manage daily posting across LinkedIn, Instagram, X, and YouTube.
- Maintain and execute the quarterly and monthly social media calendar.
- Develop briefs for design and ensure timely deliverables.
- Write and adapt copy for different platforms and audiences.
- Support campaigns for events, publications, partnerships, and impact stories.
- Work with cross-functional teams to ensure centre-wide work is visible.
- Proactively propose ideas to grow audience engagement and reach.
- Monitor platforms for trends and communication opportunities.
- Track CMHLP and sector peers to generate monthly competitive dashboards.
- Conduct QC on all posts to ensure accuracy and clarity.
Strategy and Planning
- Develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy aligned with CMHLP goals and values.
- Plan and execute promotional campaigns for events, initiatives, and research outputs.
- Create and manage paid campaigns for specific initiatives as and when needed.
Content Development and Dissemination
- Develop and implement social media guidelines in collaboration with the team.
- Maintain a social media schedule and content calendar.
- Work with the design team to curate, create, and publish engaging content across formats (copy, images, videos, etc.).
Community Engagement
- Respond to comments, messages, and queries across channels.
- Support community-building with relevant partners, networks, and stakeholders.
- Identify and engage potential collaborators across online platforms.
Monitoring and Analysis
- Monitor trends, conversations, and relevant online discourse.
- Analyse performance metrics and produce insights for improvement.
- Stay updated on platform tools, trends, and best practices.
2. Newsletter Development & Management
- Draft, edit, and coordinate content for monthly/quarterly newsletters.
- Work closely with Communication lead and project team to curate the content.
- Manage scheduling, approvals, and formatting for dispatch.
- Track and report metrics including open rates, CTR, subscriber growth, and engagement.
- Proficiency in Mailchimp to schedule and execute campaigns.
3. Publications & Blog Writing
- Draft and edit SEO-aligned blogs and thought leadership pieces.
- Coordinate inputs from program teams.
Educational Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Media Studies, Journalism, English, Marketing, Public Relations, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- A Master’s degree in Communications, Media Studies, Development Studies, Public Policy, Social Work, or a related discipline is desirable but not mandatory.
- Additional certifications or short courses in digital marketing, social media management, content writing, SEO, or analytics will be an advantage.
Must-have Skills
- Experience managing social media platforms (minimum 3 years).
- Experience managing email newsletters (Mailchimp preferred).
- Experience in building presentations and dashboards.
- Competent in managing Zoom/webinar platforms.
- Strong English writing, editing, and proofing skills (Hindi/regional language is a plus).
