Noor Shaman

Research Associate

I am a Muslim woman, from a tribal district on the Madhya Pradesh – Chhattisgarh border. I hold a master’s degree in Applied Psychology (Specialization in Clinical and Counselling Practices) from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai.

I am currently working as a Research Associate with Project ISOBAR in Chhattisgarh. The project focuses on addressing the mental health and nutritional needs of adolescents, with a particular emphasis on extending mental health support to remote and hard-to-reach areas. This initiative aims to bridge critical gaps in accessibility and ensure that underserved communities receive the care and resources they need.

My professional interests lie in identity-based mental health policies, rehabilitation psychology, and the macro-level implementation of mental health programs. I am deeply inclined toward understanding mental health through a systemic and trauma-informed lens, aiming to create community-centered and sustainable mental health practices.

Outside of work, I enjoy reading both fiction and non-fiction, going on long drives, trekking on weekends, and spending time with my family, cats, and dogs.
