Project Officer and Research Associate

Mehak is a Project Officer and Research Associate at the Centre for Mental Health Law & Policy, where she works across the Atmiyata and Outlive projects. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Human & Organizational Development from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, USA. Mehak is involved in the research, implementation, and dissemination components of Atmiyata, and she also contributes to social media and communication efforts for the Centre.

Her professional work is driven by a passion for understanding the intersection of mental health with various social and structural determinants. She is particularly interested in how different factors, including gender, sexuality, and climate change, contribute to the vulnerability of specific communities.

Outside of work, Mehak enjoys nature, cityscape, and portrait photography, trying out new baking recipes, reading, and spending quality time with her family, friends, and cat.

Professional Interests: Global mental health, suicide prevention among youth, peer support, the intersection of mental health and social determinants, climate change and mental health, mental health across different cultural communities
