Sonali Kumar

Program Manager and Research Fellow

Sonali has a background in mental health research, programme management, and entrepreneurship in non-profit settings. Prior to CMHLP, she worked with iCALL at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) and at The Foundation where she headed the Kashmir initiative. At the Centre, she works across projects on grant applications and data analysis. She finished her MSc in Global Mental Health from King’s College London and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) prior to which she completed her BA in Psychology and English from Columbia University. When not working, Sonali is either spending time with her dog Peanut, or developing programmes for Generation Mental Health, where she is co-founder and seeks to train young leaders in global mental health.

Professional interests: development and implementation of mental health programmes for conflict-affected settings, gender-based violence, capacity building, addictions, suicide prevention
