Sharon Ann Sabu

Research Associate

At the Centre, Sharon works on capacity building for the implementation of the Mental Healthcare Act, which includes workshops for a range of stakeholders from caregivers to health and law professionals. Previously, she worked on Aarambh India, an initiative by ADM Capital Foundation and Prerna, a Mumbai-based NGO. Aarambh India was supported by UNICEF and focuses on young victims of sexual abuse and violence. She completed her Master’s in Social Work with specialisation in Mental Health from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. Sharon is also trained in trauma-informed cognitive behavioural therapy and queer affirmative counselling practice (QACP). She loves films: Sharon will travel across the city to catch her favourite ones on the big screen, and memes are her way of de-stressing.

Professional interests: Mental health research, advocacy, rights-based approaches to mental health services, community-based mental health interventions, and child rights.
