Job Title: Research Associate (full time)

Location: Mehsana, Gujarat

Qualification and experience:
Masters in Social Work/ Public Health/ Social Sciences Work experience in community-based mental health, disability or public health project would be preferable

Duration: Initial contract for 1 year, will be extended based on the progress of the project.

Remuneration: INR 60, 000 per month

About Centre for Mental Health Law and Policy:
The Centre for Mental Health Law and Policy (CMHLP) at the Indian Law Society, Pune undertakes implementation research in mental health, human rights, law, and policy. The aims of the Centre are to sensitise the community, service providers, policy-makers, legislators and other stakeholders to protect and promote the rights of persons with psycho-social disabilities.

About SPIRIT intervention:
SPIRIT (Suicide Prevention and Implementation Research Initiative) aims to reduce suicidal ideation among targeted adolescents, and rate of suicides in the intervention villages in Mehsana District of Gujarat, and build capacity of health workers in suicide prevention measures. It also aims to empower regional policy makers to integrate evidence generated from implemented research on suicide prevention in policy making in Gujarat.

About the Position:
SPIRIT project is looking for someone with good communication skills to implement project interventions in a community setting, and to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders. The person should be able to deliver quality interventions within project deadlines. They will mentor and support their team of data collectors, and coordinate with the program manager and principal investigator of SPIRIT.

The Research Associate will be responsible for the following:

  • Implement project implementation on the field site, Mehsana, as per project protocol
  • Collaborate and liaison with internal and external stakeholders within the district of Mehsana
  • Mentor and supervise data collection researchers on the field
  • Assist with training for stakeholders as per project protocol
